Call for Photos & Stories
COMMERCIAL FISHING FAMILIES: Send in your fishing photos and stories!
|
We're collaborating with the Pender Harbour Community Club to gather material for their Homecoming gala, a fundraiser to restore the roof on the historic Pender Harbour Community Hall. We need your photos and stories of the commercial fishing boats, the people who fished them and those who built them. These will be shared at the gala and will be a centrepiece of the evening and then archived. While we have much material in our archives, there are many families who are not represented. If you have items we can borrow to scan, share and archive, please contact us at: [email protected] by August 31. Stories and photos can also be sent to Janet Anderson at the Pender Harbour Community Club at [email protected] or 604-328-3478. Your photos, lisences, documents, and stories all help to tell the story of Pender Harbour’s commercial fishing history. We will return your items as quickly as possible or, should you wish to donate the material, we will preserve the items archivally for future generations.
The first Homecoming in the harbour was held in 1966 to welcome fishermen back home. Thank you fishing familes for the rich tradition and deep-rooted spirit you've given this community! |
