a Heat Pump to Protect
Pender Harbour's Historic Archives
2024 Fundraiser
Storage of Pender Harbour's historic artifacts and documents requires the modernized climate controls of a heat pump to meet recommended standards for preserving archival materials and objects.
Our auxiliary building at the Sarah Wray Hall site houses Pender Harbour's archival documents and artifacts. Separately in this same building, traditional boat building classes take place. Both areas are presently heated with old, inefficient electric baseboards. The Canadian Conservation Institute recommends certain environmental standards to preserve archival material and three-dimensional objects. A heat pump will allow us to more closely meet these standards. Additionally, a heat pump for the boat building area will allow faster drying times and more stable temperatures. With a mini-split heat pump, each separate area will have its own controls, and based on experiences of other historical societies, our electricity costs will be reduced substantially. Better for Mother Nature, better for Pender Harbour's history! Our goal is to raise $10,000
to help cover the mini-split heat pump equipment and installation costs. Our current total (Dec. 2024) is at ~$800 How to Donate Etransfer to [email protected].
